Charming As-Is Late 30s Day Dress in Cornflower Blue with Soutache
Vintage very late 30s dress is made in a relatively hard to find shade - a color that is either cornflower blue or periwinkle -it's sort of right on the line. The cut is transitional, with slightly padded, emphasized shoulders and a flared a-line skirt. The long sleeves closed with self-fabric buttons at the fitted cuffs. Four segments of soutache surround "pockets" at the chest and front hips. This closes on the side with a cloth-covered "Kover Zip."
Shoulder to Waist: 18"
Label: None Present
Condition: Good, minus, as is, very sturdy and wearable
This dress is clean and ready to wear. The most notable issue is in photo #4, the 1 3/4" vertical scar created by someone making a sort of awful, top stitched fix to a vertical cut. There is a little hole on the right sleeve a bit above the elbow, and one lower on the left. The buttons were moved at the cuffs, I think, and there's little snags and also general wear around that the cuff area. Someone refinished the hem unevenly and I tried to undo it and fix it, and I think that this was once longer in the 30s - shortened in the 40s - I restitched the hem the way it was. It's not great, but the price is right. There's a couple more tiny pinholes in the skirt. This dress is priced at one third what it would be in very good condition.
