Charming 1940s Heavy Cotton Gingham Pinafore Style Summer Sundress
Absolutely charming homemade frock from the late 1930s or early 1940s of a heavy feedsack cotton that I think you'll love the feel of. It's a kelly green and white fine gingham check with wide straps. The piecework detailing on the straps is clever, and accented with white lace. This matches the trim on the gathered circular pockets. The dress is gathered at the bust and waist, and cinches as shown with the attached ties. There are no other closures as the style is easy to put on.
This dress is styled fitted at center front, but has no shaping at sides back until you tie it, so it will work for a range of waist sizes!
the back is taken in 1.5” above the keyhole and you may get just a bit more room at the bust if you open that up.
Bust: 37” (should fit 34”-37”)
Waist: 35” (Fits as small as you like to about 30”
Label: None Present
Condition: Very Good minus
This dress is clean and ready to wear. I’ve taken down an alteration to the straps, and as noted there’s an alteration at the upper center back. There is a very little bit of yellowing at the upper back and underarms, but it’s not notable - this dress cleanup beautifully. I find no other issues to note!
