  • Product Description

1930s vintage dress is exceptional - a really creative homemade piece, circa WWII - a frankenstein of two 1930s dresses turned into one powerful 40s dress. The bodice is a purple crepe with dolman sleeves and a very small collar. It is joined to the black along an upturned curve. There's some unique piecework to make the fit correct, but you'll never notice when you wear the matching peplum, which features a wide appliqued midwaist. The peplum itself is tightly pleated. The skirt of the dress is lightly gathered along the hip line to give it some drape. A really clever, unique style. This closes with snaps long the side, buttons at the back, and buttons on the peplum. (P.S. The peplum must be slipped over the head, then buttons at the waist.)

      Shoulders: 15.5"
Bust: up to a maximum of 42" due to dolman style
      Waist: 27.5"
      Hips: 52"
      Length: 43"

      Label: None Present, homemade
      Material: Rayon Crepe
Condition: Good minus, very sturdy, as is

This dress has been drycleaned and is ready to wear. The purple has some inconsistent - a little darkness at the underarms, a bit of fade at the top of the sleeves, and more oddly, some subtle bars of diagonal color settling or transfer at the shoulders, maybe where a black detail used to be? It doesn't stand out, but it is definitely there, photo 4 shows this clearly. The workmanship is clever, but not perfect. There's a small repair where the peplum opens. Holding the skirt to the light, I found one pin hole and one thin spot from a scuff. I find no other issues to note!
