Amazing Late 1930s Rainbow Striped Day Dress in Sheer Cotton
An exceptional and rare late 1930s dress, expertly made of a brilliant semi-sheer cotton could. The boldness of the stripes is truly striking. Purple, orange, lime green, brown, white and mustard make this a statement piece. The way the stripes are used in the skirt is masterful, and feels like a hold over of Art Deco style, with bold arrows of color spearing into the skirt. The sleeves are puffed, the collar is wide. It closes with a side snaps on the left. I’ve never seen another like it outside of vintage ads!
This fits like a small, so be aware that the 28” waist may be misleading.
Bust: 37.5" (not darted)

This dress is clean and ready to wear. There is a tiny pinhole by the neckline and a few by the hem. Three random stitches on the upper left collar are securing a frayed hole on the underside. The dress is sturdy and wears beautifully. I find no other issues to note!
