Fantastic 1940s or 1950s Carved and Painted Tourist Wedges with Cotton Uppers and Ankle Ties

$142.00

  • Product Description

A pair of wonderful 1940s wedgies, a tourist souvenir that is rare to find in such wonderful condition. Bright bold contrast and bright details set these 1940s or 50s  Philippines wedges apart from their later era cousins. These are especially striking in a glossy red. The traditional tropical island hut scene is brightly painted, and features a bridge over a creek and palm trees. The original owner's name, Ruth, is carved into the back. The cloth uppers, a close acetate in red and green, are affixed with metal studs. The green ankle ties wrap round the ankle and tie in a bow.. These are one of the prettiest pairs I've seen. (I only buy the very pretty pairs.) You'll adore them!
