Delightful 1940s Rayon Day Dress in Cheerful Rayon Whirligig Print of Purple on Pink

  • Product Description

The print and palette of this 1940s are the absolute definition of delight. While there was some debate over whether these were odd two-petalled flowers, birds with motion lines or whiligigs, I'm going with the whiligig theory, and you can explain the lines any way you like. The ground is a pale, cool pink while the print is bold royal purple, with dots of kelly green. The waist and hem are somewhat stretchy crepe insets of the palest lavender. This dress slips over the head and has no closures.

      Bust: 45" due to draping
      Waist: 29.5"-31"
      Hips: 44"
      Length: 44

      Label: None Present, Likely Homemade
      Material: Rayon
      Condition: Good, as is

This dress is fresh and ready to wear. As noted, it is homemade, and when you inspect it, you can see that some seams are not perfectly matched/finished. The pale insets at waist and hem are definitely to extend the length. I've interfaced a small fray and tiny thin spot at the center back. There is another fray on the hem, and a couple small spots nearby. Held to the light, you can see thin spots where the hem was let out years ago. I find no other issues to note!
