  • Product Description

This early 1930s frock is treasure of a dress of rich brown and warm, autumnal rust colored silk crepe de-chine. The details are marvelous, with faggotting that joins the brown and rust segments The orange neckline has a button-over loop, which makes up the center of a large bow. Crisp, deco-esque insets embellish the upper arms. The waistline is at the natural waist, but still not terribly fitted, and meant to be belted in. The skirt has clever, deco piecework. The dress has no closures, and simply slips over the head.

      Condition: Good, very wearable.

This stunning dress is sturdy and entirely wearable. There is some very mild rippling strain and some staining the underarms, but I've only had to make one small repair, under the left arm at the back. There is a bonded split on the upper right arm. There is a water spot on the bow, and one low on the skirt. The center back seam of the skirt was strained in the past, and someone made a very strange repair I took out, and I have instead interfaced just that narrow area of strain. You'll never see when worn.

**I have very, very gently washed this with water, vinegar and vodka to elimate underarm odor, as well as done several passes of pure vodka misted into the underarms and it finally seems fresh. If you wear it and find some still lingers, just spritz it with vodka every so often and it will clear up with time. (Also, this works on pretty much all color fast vintage that is not dry rotted.)

This has been priced with all considerations in mind.
