A compellingly romantic 1930s dress, elegantly fashioned of crocheted lace. This lace is exceptional open, with weblike threads pulling together the components of the pattern, which features leaves and starfish. The dress was not crocheted as a garment - I suspect it was a very fine table linen first, then made into this glorious design during the depression. The bodice has a modest piece pinned in, but you can actually just remove this if you want a sexier look from the low surplice style. The skirt is flared gently with godets. The finishing touch is the pleats, made of a sturdy mesh, that trims the wide collar of the surplice bodice. The dress closes on the left side with snaps.

This beauty comes with the original self-fabric belt. In the photos, it is tied, as I had first thought it was a sash, but I realized it had merely lost its buckle, and it been replaced with a basic 30s ivory one.

This beauty has been worn and washed, and I think that a slow iron press could enlarge the fit somewhat - I don't know that it wasn't somewhat larger originally, given the size of the belt and generous stretch. There's a few snags in the crochet, nothing significant. The threads at the underarms are a bit frayed/stretched from motion, but nothing is actually broken. As notes, the belt buckle is a replacement. I find no other issues to note!
