Gorgeous 1930s Puffed Sleeve Brocade Dressing Gown with Front Bell Zipper

  • Product Description

Vintage late 1930s hostess gown in a fantastically glossy brocade - I just love the way the feather motif shows against the matte ground, and just LOVE a feather motif in general. This is that classic 1930s shaoe, with puffed sleeves, a gathered bust and fitted waist. The skirt is via cut at front for an excellent drape. A long central bell zipper runs up the front. The original self-fabric belt is still present, so you can make a bow at front or back! I always prefer the front, for loungewear - who wants to lean against a bow? The ties are quite wide towards the ends, which lends drama.

      Shoulders: 14"
      Bust: 38"
      Waist: 28"
      Hips: 44"
      Length: 57"

Label: Canterbury Fifth Ave New York
Material: tests like a rayon-celanese acetate blend
      Condition: Good, as is

This dressing gown has been dry cleaned and is ready to wear. There remains some light spots the cleaner couldn't get out along the zipper line - two on the upper, two on the midwaist and two on the upper skirt. I didn't actually notice those last two because of the way I tie the bow, but there's a close up image for you as the last of the three detail photos. There is an odd repair along the zipper. There is some fade to the sleeves, but overall not notable. This beauty is still sturdy, and priced with flaws in mind.
