Vintage 1920s Dress - White 20s Summer Dress in Sheer White Cotton with Multicolored Embroidery
This dress is as sheer and lightweight as can be in cotton batiste. The obsession fashion found with folk fashion in the 1930s has revived in the most beautiful ways, and this dress is a lovely example of folk elements worked into an original garment. The placement and style evoked hungarian dresses, but the style is simpler than their smocked designs. The neckline is high, the cut sleeveless. The neckline is trimmed with lace. Belt loops and a self-fabric tie cinch the dress at the waist. Gathers at the waist create a little drape. The flowers that climb from the hem, are pink, blue, green, yellow and white. The dresss is finished with little front pockets. It slips over the head and has no closures.
Waist: 36" (best tied between 24" and 28")
Label: None Present
Condition: Very Good minus
This dress has been freshly hand laundered and is ready to wear. There are four tiny spots on the upper right chest. There are a couple pulled threads under the right front pocket, and a few minor pulls in the embroidery on the skirt. I find no other issues to note. It wears beautifully.
