Stunning 1920s Flapper Wedding Dress in Fantastic Condition with Beaded Lace, Pintucks and Matching Slip

  • Product Description

This vintage 1920s dress is stunningly rare -a Gatsby era beauty that is in exquisite, sturdy ready-to-wear conditions. I am certain that this dress was worn once for her wedding, and then, somehow, perfectly packed away - there is no tanning of the silk, no dryness or shattering. The dress is defined by the incredible sheer lace and beadwork.  This Alencon lace is so fine, so beautiful - it is one of the most expensive laces in the bridal world, and for good reason. A scarf of the same lace is attached with a handmade flower at the rear right shoulder, and can be worn hanging, or, as it is likely intended - draped under the neck and over the left shoulder. Pintucked pleats make a cross on the upper half of the dress, six pleats running horizontally, and six vertically. This beautiful slips over the head and has no closures.

My photos of this piece came out far more yellow than is accurate. Please use the lookbook image as your best guide. Also, my photos don't do it justice, this is even more exquisite in person! The beading and lace details would really pop over a darker slip, like black or navy, instead of the original ivory.

This dress is sturdy, clean and lovely. The flaws are so incredibly minor that I am truly amazed. The slip has just faint bit of yellowing at the underarms, and one little cluster of three VERY faint spots on the bodice - this is the underlayer, and not seen when worn. On the outerdress, I found two small, very clean breaks in the lace -these are so clean that they are better without being repairs, because the lace hangs so perfectly. Above the lace at the lower left, there is an area, smaller than a dime, that has six small, nearly invisible spots. You'll never noticed - when you wear this, it looks pristine. I absolutely adore it, and I think you will, too.
