This lightweight early 20s lingerie dress is the perfect thing for jazz age picnic and hot summer days where loose and casual is more than style - it's survival. Made of a semi-sheer woven cotton with narrow faggoting that makes a checked pattern and little swiss dots, it has a fantastic texture. The rounded sailor-style collar ties at the center front, and is edged with lace, which also trims the cuffs of the short sleves, and the wide matching sash. (how these two pieces stayed together is kind of amazing, right?) Oh! And the scalloped hem is trimmed with the lace as well. There is a single snap on the bodice. Someone added elastic at the natural waist, probably to make it work in a later decade, but that's long since given out.
