Exquisite Late Victorian or Early Edwardian Fur Felt Cape with Rolled Collar
**Photos have been lightened to show detail**
Gorgeous antique Victorian cape made of the most divine fur felt with a soft velveteen hand. This classic cape has a straight silhouette and armholes, allowing for ease of movement. The perfectly excessive rolled collar is the centerpiece of the cape, adding an infusion of drama, lent weight from trapunto bands. Shirring surrounds the collar, both on the exterior and interior lining. The lining is silvery grey silk and the cape closes down the front with hooks and eyes.

This item is clean and ready to wear. The striped lining has what I first took to be an abstract print of some kind since it's in such sturdy condition, however, it seems as though, at some point in its past the cape got wet, cause the dye to bleed, making unusual patterns and splotches of inky black and pink in the lining. Since this isn't seen when worn, it doesn't greatly affect the exterior in any way, and anyone casually seeing it will likely assume there is a print. Curiously, it's past run in with the weather has not affected the integrity of the cape. There are about three small splits to the silk lining. One small section of shirring at the back of the neck has loosened, but overall it is intact and sturdy. I find no other issues to note.
