Dramatic Edwardian Bodice in Black Wool with Shocking Pink Silk Under Lace

  • Product Description

A dramatic and striking bodice of the Edwardian era. A bold pink - much more fuchsia in tone than these images suggest - is covered with tatted lace, making up the inset to the crisp black wool jacket. Triple rows of velvet trim the piece. It closes up the interior center with hook and eyes, while the pink silk neatly tucks in, closing only with a single hook at the neckline. Originally part of a two piece ensemble, the interior has hooks to connect it to a skirt.

      Bust: 35.5"
      Waist: 25.5"
      Length: 15"

      Label: None Present
      Material: Wool, Silk
Condition: Good, very wearable as is

This blouse has not be cleaned due to it's age. The pink silk is starting to thin and shred around the collar - not shattering, it's just very fine and the neck gets a lot of touch and strain. The velvet trim is quite rubbed and missing much of the nap. On the interior hem, there are two tears, from a skirt being stepped on and pulling the hook I'd imagine - they have been stitched down long since, and of course, aren't seen when worn. There is a little staining at the underarms.
